Hyundai joins Haribon in creating a greener world with an environmental project called "Together We Can for a Green Tomorrow" to plant 20,000 seedlings in 2010 in key areas of the country. With a team of more than 200 eco-stewards, composed of volunteers from HARI and Hyundai dealerships and members of Team Hyundai Philippines (a community of Hyundai car owners and enthusiasts), trooped to Cavinti, Laguna for the company's second tree-planting effort. Making a difference by advocating green technologies, HARI supports Haribon Foundation's national tree-planting advocacy "1 Million Hectares of Rainforests by 2020".

Hyundai takes the limelight with 5 victories at the 2010 Auto Focus People's Choice Awards Night. Reflecting the preferences of modern-day motorists were: the All-New Sonata, a fresh win for the 2010 Mid-size Sedan category; two all-time favorite Hyundai vehicles retain their title in their respective categories: the Grand Starex for the Full-size Van category and the Tucson for Compact SUV of the Year. And finally, the Genesis Coupe breaks new records by taking home Auto Focus' Sports Car of the Year and Media's Choice Best in Design.

Hyundai confidently secures a strong automobile industry ranking at the Top 3 for the first eight months in 2010 and jumps to Top 2 in the PC segment for the month of August with 102.8% growth. Hyundai's upward swing is credited to its impressive sales in major industry segments: the Passenger Car and Light Commercial Vehicle segments. Achieving record sales of 1,114 units or a notable 22.3% increment from its sales last July, Hyundai moves up to Top 2 by grabbing 21.9% market share of the country's automotive sales for the month of August.

August

The exhibit of Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc., titled “The Wonderful World of Hyundai”, showcases a world of breakthrough fuel-efficient, and eco-friendly Innovations for Humanity at the 3rd Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) at the World Trade Center Manila. Hyundai Motor Company’s ix-Metro, a Hybrid Electric Crossover Utility Vehicle, top-billed the roster of next generation vehicles of the Sonata, Grand Starex Limousine, Tucson, Santa Fe and Genesis Coupe shown to the motoring public at the 3rd PIMS.

The ix-Metro is the fifth concept car for the Hyundai Namyang Design (HND) series and it’s inspired by the rich visual world of space travel. Its design adopts a triangular theme for a striking and imposing look. The ix-Metro is equipped with an eco-friendly, hybridized, petrol engine, and boasts of a pristine, high-technology interior with ice-blue lighting, like a futuristic spacecraft. As one of the highlights of Hyundai’s exhibit at the 3rd PIMS, the ix-Metro represents the infinite possibilities that Hyundai continues to explore in its pursuit of advancing mobility and putting harmony in the existence of man, machine, and the world.

 

“The Wonderful World of Hyundai” captured an image of an ecosystem from an advanced civilization inspired by The Pandora in James Cameron’s movie, Avatar. It came to life with a 3D audio-visual presentation of Hyundai’s environmental strides, captured in the heartwarming song, “What A Wonderful World.” Complimenting the digital environment was the grand ensemble of performers that graced Hyundai’s wonderful world, namely, Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and Ballet Manila, young singing sensation Charlie Green, and world-class singer Lea Salonga, with soul-stirring music from the Filharmonica, conducted by no less than maestro Gerard Salonga.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe and the Hyundai Grand Starex received two major distinctions in the sixth Annual C! Magazine Awards, emerging as the Editor's Pick in the Sport Sedan/Coupe category and the Full Size People Carrier category, respectively. For the Genesis Coupe, it has won this category for the second consecutive year, while the Grand Starex, has won this category for 3 consecutive years since 2008.

HARI is Top 3 in the roster of 10 Most Outstanding Corporate Citizens of Makati. Based on 2009 tax records of the Office of the City Treasurer of Makati, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) has once again been adjudged as one of the Top Ten Taxpayers in Makati, highlighting the distributor's commitment to uphold economic stability and shore up both business and community development in Makati. His Excellency, Jejomar C. Binay, Vice President-elect of the Republic of the Philippines, handed over the laurel wreath-inspired trophy - an ancient symbol of victory, to Ms. Fe Perez-Agudo, President and CEO of HARI, during the awarding ceremonies for the Top 10 Most Outstanding Corporate Citizens of Makati at the 340th Araw ng Makati (Foundation Day of Makati) Vin de Honor celebration held in Makati Shangri-La. HARI's newest success is attributed to its strong work ethic and compliance in terms of paying its tax obligations to the City of Makati.

HARI launches its local FIFA campaign, in support of Hyundai Motor Company's (HMC) sponsorship of the 2010 FIFA World Cup games in South Africa. Titled "2010 Hyundai Next Generation Football Camp," HARI partnered with the Manila Soccer Academy (MSA), a premier organization committed to furthering the development of soccer players here in the country, and organized a series of programs for budding Filipino football players, which include: Fantastic Fridays, a soccer camp for young soccer players aged 3 to 16, and the 2010 Hyundai Next Generation Manila Cup Football Festival, a friendly competition for young soccer players, and soccer teams hailing from various universities, communities, and organizations.

HARI sustains upward momentum with growth of 95%, scores a 3-point victory by maintaining its Top 3 post in overall industry rankings based on year-to-date (y-t-d) sales reports from March to May 2010, and on the third month, posted significant growth rates in major categories.

April

HARI reinforces its Top 3 ranking with growth of 100.5% based on April year-to-date sales reports.

 

Hyundai's most advanced vehicle lineup composed of the all-new Sonata, all-new Tucson, Genesis Coupe, Grand Starex Limousine, and the refreshed Santa Fe model, is launched via the Hyundai Next Generation Media Test Drive held in Marinduque, boasting of the famous Bellarocca Island Resort and Spa as the event's official residents for all test drive participants. It was the first time that an automotive company in the Philippines spearheaded an ambitious event at Bellarocca, which is renowned for its majestic Greece-inspired ambience and architecture.

 

HARI wins the 2009 Award of Excellence for outstanding distributor operations at the Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) Asia-Pacific Dealer Conference held in Macau, Hong Kong last April 12-15, 2010. In the same event, Hyundai Cebu, one of HARI's Elite dealers, emerged as the 2009 Asia-Pacific Dealer of the Year, besting 260 dealers vying for the plum title. This is the second time that Hyundai Cebu won the Asia-Pacific Dealer of the Year award.

HARI moves up to Top 3 in total industry rankings, beating its March 2009 year-to-date record by 107.25%.

 

The Summer Motorist Roadside Assistance (SMRA) campaign of HARI is given a boost with a nationwide coverage of 21 service points all over the Philippines to ably assist motorists during their road trips. Now on its 8th year, the SMRA, in partnership with Pilipinas Shell, reinforces HARI's advocacy for road safety and responsible motoring through Hyundai's Best C.A.R.E. (Cordial, Accurate, Reliable, and Efficient and speedy) Service

HARI spearheads its first Dealer's Conference for the year and the 2009 Dealer of the Year Awards at Shangri-La Boracay

 

HARI Foundation's PRO Environment Campaign titled: "Together, We Can…For A Green Tomorrow" is launched via a tree-planting ceremony simultaneous with HARI's Dealer's Conference and Dealer of the Year Awards in Shangri-La Boracay. Through the tree-planting ceremony, HARI initially contributed 333 seedlings to rebuild part of the Yapak forest in Boracay, which is home to one of the island's treasures, the flying foxes. The big goal of HARI's PRO Environment Campaign is to plant 15,000 seedlings at strategic locations nationwide in partnership with the DENR, NGOs, and Hyundai dealerships.

 

The Tucson R eVGT variant is introduced in the market. The R eVGT is the 3rd generation CRDi diesel engine technology.

 

The refreshed model of the Santa Fe arrives and is introduced in the Philippine market.

HARI heralds its Next Generation campaign, featuring Hyundai's newest breed of automobiles. The launch of the all-new Tucson in December 2009 serves as the pivotal first for HARI's string of launches of Hyundai's new family of cutting-edge automobiles.

 

HARI's Next Generation campaign kicks off with the Omnipotent Tour, a nationwide mall display of the all-new Tucson Theta II model—the opening salvo of HARI for 2010.

 

The Omnipotent Gathering, an exclusive dealer's preview of the all-new Tucson Theta II, is also launched to complement HARI's Next Generation campaign, as well as the Omnipotent Tour. The event ran from January to February 2010 at selected Hyundai dealerships all over the country.
